It’s so apparent to the naked eye that bears witness
to the injustice that thrives around us, every minute of
every day. Nothing happens, life goes on;
and not a person rises to take a stand. Who
have we become? Stare out the window and
see nothing. People struggle, yet no one
cares, no one notices the hurt and pain.
look to the clouds to escape the view,
see nothing so you can’t be blamed, and turn a
blind eye to save yourself. We all see what
this world brings, we don’t speak out and let
it breed. Talking heads on TV feed the ratings
and the money comes in. Hide the truth and provide
no help, it doesn’t matter, all are the same. Fox
TV or MSNBC. Stories are the same today as months
before. Breaking news, another mass shooting on the
screen, same today as yesterday and the day before, and
the many days before yesterday. They don’t care; more
lives lost mean more money is needed. People
die in the streets or on the school floor; the more that die,
the higher those ratings soar. Stop the shootings,
the murders, and what’s to be. Sad by all
that is, and I miss what life used to be. You envision change
and nothing more, where all can live, survive, be
proud, and live their life and write their score. Close
your mind and remove your soul; blame everyone
but never you. Watch the blood pour in the streets,
limbs with no life, and you witness all. Just walk by
and turn your head so you can’t see. All the same
in the times we live, all speak the words, “Who
to blame? You can’t blame me.”
