RESULTS
We are thrilled to share the results of our SMALL SPACE, DEEP IMPACT — Dark Poets Club’s first-ever mini challenge — which asked poets to carve something unforgettable in 50 words or fewer. The response was phenomenal: over 1,500 submissions from 20 countries (Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Greece, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom & United States).
The standard was extraordinary. In fifty words, you gave us intimacy and aftershock, myth and menace, grief and glittering defiance. Your precision cut deep; your craft stayed with us.
Because the quality was so high, judging was fiercely close. To honour the breadth of excellence, we’re sharing the Winner alongside a Shortlist and Honourable Mentions, who will be published.
❗️If your name isn’t here, please don’t be disheartened. It does not diminish the strength of your work. Final choices came down to the thinnest of margins.
To every poet who entered: thank you. Your voice belongs here. Keep writing, keep sending us your shadows — the next Dark Poets Club challenge is already taking shape, and it will be darker, sharper, and just as uncompromising.

"What an honour to be chosen as the winner of the Dark Poets Club - Small Space - Deep Impact challenge. Writing has been a lifeline for me in so many ways over the years. I’ve only just started to enter poetry competitions - so what a thrill to actually be a winner. I love to write in all genres - but am particularly drawn to the dark side - the mysterious - the macabre- and what an opportunity The Dark Poets Club gives to writers such as myself and others across the world.
Writing gives me so much pleasure - but as all writers know- to be acknowledged for your writing is something very special and encouraging - especially on those darker days when the paper sits blank and we struggle to find the words.
