WHITEWASHED TOMBS

By J. R. Roland

ree

An empty confessional booth watches

as they condemn our love

to the lake of fire,

taking from the same lake

to light their candles

for Sunday Service;

a practice as aged as the red wine

that stains the lips of

the hypocrite.
