THE SNOW CAME TODAY

The snow came today.
Which meant we had time to dig your grave
yesterday –
before the earth froze.
Under a tree.
By the river.
For now, we are close.
I walk past the rock
that marks your spot.
One day I will move.
And your bones
will bleach
under a distant sun.
