THE FINAL BOW

As the lights go out

And I leave the stage

One final bow

One final charade

The smile wearing thin

But no one can tell

The act almost complete

I've played it so well

The pain and despair covered

By the lights going out

From the crowd comes one final shout

They want it so badly

As far as I can tell

They all seem happy

I feel I'm in hell

But all they need

Is that final bow

As the lights go out

And I leave the stage

They go home happy

My spirit just fades

I won't be back

I've left the stage

With that last and final bow

My lights go out

As happens with age
