SAFETY

By Annie Dawid

ree

“They never bombed when it thundered.”

Her tales of Blitz resonate inside me now.

God, cradling us in dark arms –

the comfort of severity –

 speaks in rumbling tongues,

cracks echo down marbled halls,

soothing as no human can

or would

 or will

 – covers me in sheets of rain.
