Turned
inside-out, fury catches in the chest
serpents twisting, pain
searing - sun, blistering
shadows, solid lines - eyes
wide in surprise, breathless
for life
a Gorgon’s lair
dark, and captivating
walls marked
a tally of fools
~ who dares
to look twice?
Sister, I see you
this shattered looking glass
once a beating heart
walls marked
a tally of monsters
fingernails, scraping
down thighs
Come back to the light
of history dying
a story begging
for retelling, voice reviving
Sister, I see you
walls marked
a tally of millennia, truth
silenced - no longer
set in stone
