The ivy’s creeping into my veins again
A thread you know better than to pull
Glass splinters from stroking the wine stems
You built this bridge over haunted water
Keystone already a picked lock
Searching the bracken you could find
A rib, a hard cocoon, a lantern at night
I’ve seen the wax cylinders you scrawl
Love letters to play back to the wallpaper
Cremation ash to mix into tattoo ink
Caterpillars melt entirely, oozing keepsake
metamorphosis afflux, weaving death to life
Sharpen the rib in this mutable gush
Suture and sterilize, the melding wings
the flakes of some old carapace
Pin me to the starlight, the glitter and dew
the gloom stretching in unannounced
If you ask the earth to drown me in dirt
bury me in a princess dress, god knows
you’ll never let anyone else be queen
