Seven days have straggled by
since the passing of his wife.
His soul is anguished.
His world is vanquished.
He lost hope, his will, his life.
His demons trooped and stormed his mind,
and marched his halls each harrowed night.
They smiled tall and grinned bright,
“At least we survived.”
