FADING FORTRESS

By Helga Lockheart

ree

My love for you began like the small stones of a riverbank, rough and unpolished. As time passed, it blossomed into an immense fortress, steadfast and unyielding. Your affection, in contrast, was like the castle of limestone, splendid at first glance, yet eroding over time, leaving only remnants of its former grandeur.
