EVERTIDE

By GP Hyde

I’ll walk with you at eventide,

Step lightly on the shingle shore

Where often the owl and raven cried.

Across the misty river wide

I’ll row to you with rapid oar

And walk with you at eventide.

A heron waded, time to bide

A moment’s fishing near the shore

As often the owl and raven cried.

Ruffling ferns on the river side

A cooling breeze uplifts and soars.

I’ll walk with you at eventide.

The two of us can now decide

To tread a path and walk before

And often the owl and raven cried.

The sun is setting, flowing tide,

The question’s now: It’s time! Decide!

I’ll walk with you at eventide,

And often the owl and raven cried.
