ALL THIS PAST WE FORGOT

By Stella Mathioudakis

In a world where truth is an option

Where rather than fact crave reaction

Listen

We talk, and talk, and talk

Over

Each other

In order to bond or release

But my eyes have seen another

That’s made me another be

Freeze my thoughts when mouth opens

And turn red line to a dot

Now sitting

Typing

Eyes wide open

I found hope and

It makes sense

All this past I forgot

In a world where truth is an option

Where I know, that you know, that I know, that it's not

And all that is made meets corruption

It’s times like these it is out in the open

One step still

All this past we forgot

To kill eyes that long built up mine

To stand by as our waters dry

To make crime of a broken mind

To take pride in a hateful lie

It’s times like these it is out in the open

All of this

In a world where truth is an option
