WORLDLY WEIGHT

By Ella Penn

You do not breathe air,

nor eat the fruits of the earth.

You are not ruled by the setting of the sun.

You are in eternity,

where life began and you now belong.

You are in the land between sleep and awake.

Your essence, your spirit,

free from all this worldly weight.

You are in Elysium

and await those here in this earthly plain.

In lightness and love I’ll hold you dear,

with joy and sadness I'll shed a tear.

You feel no fear, nor pain, nor grief.

For now we can both rest with peace.
